Hi everyone,

Does anyone know if dental schools do a background check before or after acceptance? Has anyone every gotten kicked out after being accepted? And for what reason? Is is only for elevated crimes such as murder and rape or misdemeanors as well?

in my interview they told us it will be background check after acceptance letter. but for sure they are not going to kick you out because speeding ticket!

Felonies that you didn't report on your application will definitely get your acceptance withdrawn, because a convicted felon cannot hold a dental license in the United States. With misdemeanors, it is up to each school. Probably if it involves some kind of fraud or other unethical behavior then your acceptance could be questioned, but I really doubt that anything minor will keep you out.

Who told you felons can't hold a license in the United States? In my own opinion, some felonies are technically minor compared to some misdemeanor.
