So I just took the DAT. 2 hours ago got done. Very sad with scores. 1st time taking not sure what to do now.

I got
PAT 19
BIO 19
CHM 18
Ochm 17
RC 17
Math 15 😕

TS 18
AA 17

I have a 3.2 scgpa 3.38 cum GPA. I have pretty decent ECs. Tutoring, campus involvement, volunteer work and all that. Not sure if I should apply anymore. You think it will be a waste of money?? what should I do. Beyond pissed at myself right now 🙁

I did

KBB Destroyer for sciences and some math. Topscore

Bio was random I think I got saved (maybe not so much but) because im a science major and a senior so I have pretty much gone over most of the stuff. process of elimination.

Genchem Chad vids n stuff helped

Ochem I dont know it was pretty hard. I suck at o chem a lot.

PAT was a lot harder than the CDP i thought the folding ones were really hard and angles were impossible.

RC I thought I did pretty good in it. Im not sure how i did that bad. most of it was just looking through things and finding answers. o well. I didnt get pianoed or frapped.

Math I ran outa time. Topscore math I got 20 and i thought it was a lot harder there was so many word problems. I have a feeling they made it harded because of the calculator?

ah I donno what to do getting depressed.

scores aren't that bad, however you are applying late so it would be better to wait till next year since both your gpa and dat scores are average. Think about retaking the DAT as well, if you get around 20s you should be able to get an interview for next year if you apply early.

dont get depressed, those scores arent bad at all.

They could be worse I guess, I hate the DAT

Do you think you should apply? I don't think there's harm in it. Although you might not get in, why wait an entire year to apply just because you're not confident of your chances? If money isn't an issue, take the chance because your probability of getting in will always be higher than 0% chance if you don't apply at all.

And look at the up-side of your scores, you didn't do below average and you can only improve on them. A 17AA and 18TS isn't competitive per say, but they're not abysmal. Study some more, figure out where you went wrong and your scores are almost certain to improve next time.

When you apply next year, you'll have higher scores, maybe some work experience, and your chances of getting admitted will only rise.

Always look on the briiight side of life 😀

Yeah I made the mistake of not applying last year because I wasn't confident with my grades and hadn't even taken my DAT. My parents now hate me because I did that, they feel "taking a year off" is a complete waste of time and think im going to spend it drinking, partying, and playing computer games all day long =/. But I feel the year off helped me out tremendously... When I decided not to apply I felt like I had a huge weight lifted of my shoulders that let me focus. I was able to study for my DAT, focus in my classes (got deans honor list all throughout junior and senior year), and helped me write a great personal statement. Now that I applied this year I have 2 interview invites so far one to loma linda the other to virginia commonwealth. So in my opinion never rush anything because it will end up backfiring. You should apply next year and take the time to work on every part of your application like improving the DAT and writing a bomb personal statement. You have a higher GPA than me so aim to score what I scored on the DAT and I'm sure you'll get an interview next year. Make sure to apply as early as possible too!
