Like most premed undergrads I took the MCAT my junior year of college, but due to a multitude of factors I didn't prepare well and scored a 503. I gave up on medicine and decided I would try my hand at hospital administration. I spent two years earning a master's degree in nonprofit administration, and during those two years I was the graduate assistant for a college lacrosse team. A number of experiences brought me back to a career in medicine. After I finished grad school (May 2018) I studied for the MCAT and scored a 517. I didn't apply in Fall 2018, and decided I would apply in next cycle (2019-2020). In theory I would start med school Fall 2020 at the age of 26. I am currently working as a research assistant at a hospital, most of the job is direct patient interaction on inpatient units. During the downtime on my job I have the ability to shadow internal med docs. I have a 3.96 undergrad gpa, and a 4.0 in my graduate program. Anyone with similar experiences? Any recommendations on where I should apply? How I should spend my next year before med school?

Not sure how much clinical exposure you have - direct interaction with patients. Also unsure how much non-clinical volunteering and shadowing you have done. Some research positions are patient-contact some are not.

So this year can be used to address weaknesses in those areas as you appear to have the MCAT, GPA and good work history to check the other boxes.

Service to others less fortunate than yourself.

List to follow. What was your grad degree in? What is your sGPA?

Are you me because this is literally the exact same path I took. I got a Master of Health Administration and now I’m working as a clinical research lab manager.

What is your science GPA? Did you finish all of your prerequisites? Just from what you’ve written the only thing I can suggest (like those above me) is volunteering, clinical and non-clinical.
