Bad idea to apply more top heavy as TX applicant?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Strong TX applicants may certainly apply to very competitive private schools with matching median stats.
There is no sense in applying to OOS places with stats well below yours. Your good IS schools are a much better bet.
We know nobody is going to leave TX without significant inducement...
Only 255 left last year! https://www.aamc.org/system/files/2019-11/2019_FACTS_Table_A-5.pdf

LM 72 and WARS 83 from TX—outside of Texas I applied only to T20 schools and received interviews at four out of about twelve (whether I'll be accepted at any is yet to be seen). However, I am URM so please keep that in mind.

If you're going to apply OOS, my advice is go big or go home. Don't bother with less competitive programs.
