i had an interview at a school and i'm getting a bit nervous... it wasn't great. i mean it was ok. i had a slip u though.... i'm not sure how bad this is but i pretty much said i wanted to go into pedo because its harder to talk to adults... um not what i meant to say, but i then went on to correct myself by saying that i meant i thought kids were more fun because they are more interested than scared of the dentist, they have a fresh outlook on things around them and are very curious etc etc.. she laughed when i said adults were harder to talk to >.< this has been weighing me down for a while now and i'm just trying hard to get over it 🙁 it was at columbia by the way 🙁 🙁 she asked me to email her photos of some things i mentioned (well i offered to) do you think i could maybe patch it up there? or i dont know...... 🙁🙁🙁🙁

It's cool. Interviews do not decide everything. And it doesn't sound like it went so bad.

relax. the fact that you made her laugh might make you memorable. it's not like she stared at you oddly after you said that.
and i personally think it's a good sign that she asked you to email her photos because that it shows she's interested in you and you have a chance to connect with her and not be forgotten among the many qualified candidates.

may i ask when your interview was?

Are more adults than kids scared of the dentist? I'm pretty sure it's the other way around from my experience at least.

I wouldn't worry that too much. It's a very acceptable interview mistake. The fact that your interviewer laughed makes it all the better.

I don't think there's anything wrong with this and I don't see how this could negatively impact your interview. You're interested in a particular field and you explained to them why!
If this is why you're interested in this field, then no one should use it against you. At least you know what you want to do 4-5 years from now and that's a positive thing, because many people try to get into dentistry without knowing anything about the field.
Don't try to patch anything up! Sometimes the more you try to fix something the worst it gets. You interviewed and that's done! Just let it go, and see how things will work out for you.

follow up with whatever you need to follow. Under no circumstances do not mention you "bad slip" experience in any way. Accentuate positive. She laughed because such statement sounded far from reality- for every one child patient you will get 2 adult parents...but you will learn so no worries...

hey thanks guys. i'm definitely trying to put it past me. now.. i interviewed on sept 25th, karrotcake

DONT WORRY. I gave an atrocious interview at Maryland; i did all things you are NOT supposed to do/say. But hey, there's no point it worrying about it now, lol.I'd make a list of all the offenses but i don't want to make it about me. In comparison, your interview went fine. You were honest about your passion and you recognized how what you said could be misconstrued, and tried rewording it. Judging by her laugh, she probably understood it too. You're fine. 😉

hey thanks mueladeljuicio. seeing your stats, you could tell the schools anything and they'd take you!! haha but well deserved man, and good luck!

out of curiousity, what did she request pictures of?

Don't worry, don't worry, don't worry!!!! You did an awesome job by getting an interview at Columbia. You were there and you were yourself. If it's meant to be it will be.
