If you surf pathologyoutlines.com long enough, you will notice that the same jobs keep coming up over and over, especially in academic centers. For example, Northwestern is always advertising for a breast pathologist. I think this is due to high turnover, ie the department is turning into a revolving door.

I see a few GU podlab jobs as well. The GI pathology corp in Tenn and the OUR lab seem to be flashing the dough.

In your opinion, what makes any job become bad shortly after starting it and drive anyone to leave early?

I believe -among many reasons-"personality clashes" is the major one. Having difficult personalities within the group can make one's life miserable. This usually leads to tension among people affecting their self esteem and makes them unhappy....Misery at work affects all other aspects of one's life......Unfortunately, these things are impossible to know on interviews or site visits (although you can know people by sitting and talking with them for a short time) !!. Workload is another major factor.

Just because someone leaves a job soon after taking it doesn't mean it's a bad job. It can mean that. It can also mean they found one they liked better or in a better location or better situation for them.

Sometimes jobs keep showing up because

1) They didn't find someone they wanted to hire before, so they are trying again.
2) They found out they needed to hire more than one new person.
