bad kaplan midterm results

Just took kaplan midterm test and all my scores stayed the same or went down from my other full lengths (topscore 1 and 2).

Shouldn't they go UP WAY UP! I thought kaplan is suppose to be easier then topscore?

my results:
bio 17 this should be my best 😡
chem 16😡😡😡 AH THIS SCORE DOES NOT BUDGE - it only goes 16 or lower 🙁
oc 16 still need to finish reading this 🙄
QR 14
RC 18
PAT 20

Taking the test in about less than 3 weeks. I know there's still time to improve but I was hoping to at least be getting all 18s by now😡😱🙁

Don't worry dude..just keep at it.. Go OVER Each and EVERY answer choice explanation provided by KAPLAN, cross-check it with ur notes, textbooks, blue-book and other sources and PLANT those seeds in ur brain.
I'm about to go take my midterm wish me luck!

I take my Kaplan midterm tomorrow...I have the real test in 5 weeks. Kaplan makes me mad because stuff you have not gone over in class or have been assigned to read is on the subject tests and is probably going to be on the midterm.

yeah i know...KAPLAN is really bad with it. You will soon notice that their SUBJECT TEST Questions aren't even covered in the foundation notes or the white-book. Somehow you suppose to know those.. really annoying oh well

don't stress. i remember when my class took its kaplan midterm, we ALL scored lower than our diagnostic because quite frankly the midterm is a mother....and thats the idea, its supposed to scare you into kicking it into high gear for the final push. i dont think i scored above a 19 on any section of the midterm except PAT and i got a 15 on ochem, and i ended up scoring 20+ on every section on test day

relax, work hard, and you will do well.

thanks guys this is comforting. I'm still frustrated with my scores cuz I thought I'd be doing better by now...ahhh


hearing that you got 20+ despite your midterm scores is nice though!! what did you do the rest of the time that got you to that point?

same here - i was extremely surprised at my results from the kaplan test i just took today...i'm not sure what i should be thinking...destroyer and topscore seemed more doable than kaplan...i don't get it.
kaplan gchem was full of calculations...

A dentalgrl to a dentalgrl....don't be worried! 🙂 My best friend got a really low score on her kaplan midterm test too and got a 22 on the real thing!! She was getting lower scores like 16's on the midterm and she didn't do anything drastic from the midterm to her real test. So it's supposed to be harder.. you'll be fine! 🙂 She took her test as soon as the kaplan class was over

what did she do though? just finish doing the rest of the kaplan subject tests? I know we all still have time but I'm trying to figure out what to do to pump up my scores cuz what I have been doing is only so good, actually not even good cuz these scores are not good enough to apply with so I know I need to seriously pull them up!

Academic Average: 17.10
> Survey Of Natural Sciences: 20.30
- Biology: 20 (didn't know that 6 wrong can bring you down THAT much)
- General Chemistry: 18
- Organic Chemistry: 23
> Reading Comprehension: 16 (exhausted by this time & need improvement)
> Quantitative Reasoning: 15 (i guessed about good 20 Qs)
Perceptual Ability Test: 18 (don't know why...)

this is the aftermath of my 1st midterm...planning on going thru the test and getting crackin on RC and QR now...

is this bad?

Those look like great midterm scores to me. I just did my midterm on Sunday morning. I feel ashamed about my scores. Most of you seem to be thinking that the midterm is much harder than the real DAT, I hope this is true. Anyways, this is how my midterm panned out.

AA 16.97
NS 14.9
BIO 14
GCH 15
OCH 16
RC 20
QR 16
PAT 20

Don't know how I did so well on the RC... this is definately not my strong point. Also disappointed that I did so poorly on QR, not to mention my sciences were pathetic. I'm not planning on spending a lot of time on the RC or QR for the second half of the course. I need to get cracking on sciences and make sure I'm comfortable with all of it. Frustrating... just hope I can kill the actual test. I'm going to take it at the end of August!

if your test is close screw the kaplan stuff b/c it simply is not representative of the dat. get the dat destroyer and really study it and understand everything in it you will be set. i wouldn't waste my time on all the kaplan stuff. I would still do subject tests for all the subjects (dont' make it your main focus). Also get crack the pat. very useful and helpful. you can learn alot from it. after you do the destroyer the kaplan tests will be super easy. just make sure you have read over and understand all the kaplan blue book before you do the destroyer.

I agree with most. I dont understand why people keep on saying that kaplan is easy, maybe they are just talking about the bluebook. The angle ranking section that comes with the online course is freaking insane...

The blue book exams are really easy (I think that's what they're referring to).

As for the actual course material...I think the midterm/finals aren't that difficult when you compare then to Achiever. Achiever is still the hardest practice exam on the market in my opinion.

I'd say the midterm/final are about on par with topscore.

As for PAT...I don't even think you can compare achiever w/ kaplan. People have said crack the PAT is really hard too, but I never used it.

The subject tests are ok...bio is way to easy and doesn't cover enough material (I think way more material can be covered with 200 questions).

The gchem subject test is ok, but Achiever and Destroyer are better and more difficult in my opinion.

Ochem subject test is the best. There are some difficult/original questions in there.

The only thing that got to me about kaplan material was that they only tested you on the blue book. This might be ok for the chems but very worrisome about biology. No big deal if you're using other material though. Just my 2 cents.

Biology 16
General Chemistry 15
Organic Chemistry 17
Reading Comprehension 17 (thought I did better)
Quantitative Reasoning 15 (thought I actually did worse than this)
PAT 19

That test sucked mainly because less than half of the biology questions were on ones that we have covered up to this point in the class, same goes for chemistry. It is hard to see how you are doing if you have to guess on a lot because you haven't read the material yet.

What is good about this test is that I know how long the test is, WOW...I was so burned out by the end of that. Also I have gone up in all areas since my diagnostic except for General Chemistry, which I dropped a point, kind of wierd.

I take the test in 5 weeks, hopefully I can get with it.

5 weeks! I have such simliar scores than you and only have <3wks so I'm sure you can do it...I hope I can do it too though in <3 😀

I see all our scors guys but what you doing as a result of them. I was REALLY hoping to be 18+ on everything by not so I'm solid and just gotta tweak myscores up past 20 these last 3 weeks but looks like I still have more work to do. Bad scores are so depressing but now I"m just really pumped to do better and study harder. How are you all doing this? just continue with what you have been doing?
