I took my test 2day and did very poorly on it
aa 14
ts 15
bio 16
gchem 14
ochem 15
rc 16
math 11

I studied for 1 1/2 months and used campbell, examcrackers collection, kaplan, barron, achiever, ap biology , schaums orgo and bio.. I was ready at least that is what i thought. I didnt work the whole time so i was able to study 8hrs day. I dont have any excuses to make but i know i need to take it again. Unfortunately, the school are applied to are waiting for my DAT scores. I plan on call them 2morrow and talking about it. I am open to any suggestion or plan that i can use when i take it again. Even with my score, I wanted to say thanks for all the help . Hopefully next time when i post it will be wonderful ..Again thanks for ur help..

Keep your head up Bestsmilez, still see this application cycle through and don't lose hope. If you look at the ranges at some schools, there's always atleast one or two accepted applicants that have DAT scores that are similiar to yours. Good luck to you!

Hey I completely understand your situation because Iam just like you except that my scores are just a little bit worse than yours. I am a little confused as to what to do know. I want to retake the exam un december but I do not want to bomb. I was thinking of takingthe kaplan course but I am not sure if I can afford to right now. Should I just give up on this cycle?

My advice for you is to talk to your schools and explained what happened and mention that you are going to retest. As far as stuyding goes, maybe you should consider the kaplan classroom as well. It just might help.

u're right there is no room for excuses. you did the best you could and now you have to take a step back and have a new strat on how you approach your studies and the test. heck maybe you're a genius but just plain suck on exams. well if thats the case you just need to work on your weaknesses.

a retake is probably necessary and dont worry you'll score higher the second time around. if you stick with your studies on understanding the concepts and details im sure you will see a HUGE improvement.

just hang in there, and you'll get to your goals. sometimes it just takes a bit longer for people but in the end as long as you accomplish what you are out there for its all good. good luck

hey, i took my DAT on 21st the first time....i was so depressed, i didn't even want to post my scores, but reading yours made me feel like i can stand up and finish my race...
I studied 2 weeks before the test, i have a son, so not to bring him as an excuse, but i honestly had hard time studying, cuz he doesn't go to day care or anything, and i would have to look after him and all...i missed him like crazy for whatever time i studied (2 weeks)..i had a 3 year break after my bachelors cuz i had my son...so that was one major factor...cuz i had to recall EVERYTHING. and remember in 2 weeks..i studied, Destroyer, Kaplan, Shaums (little bit), bio text book, and top score...I got an AA of 14 too. which was so depressing...my entire way from the test center to home (which was almost an hour and half drive) i cried...i wanted to be done crying before i got home, i didn't want to cry in front of my son...I had to tell myself over and over again, things happen for a reason...

so my saying is, whoever got 14, or 13 or 15 or 16.....i too know how it feels. but 1 thing i learned, is that we are so much bigger then this 4 hour test...our minds are so much bigger and better then this questions...there is no way we can't win it...

I learned that no matter what you study, you have to know IN AND OUT of all the subject...i had probly 2 bio questions from Destroyer...rest i don't know where it came from...but i know IT IS DOABLE...DAT is a tiny test of life...we have all passed bigger tests sometime in our lives..So GOOD LUCK...infact this isn't about luck...i rather say : KICK DAT'S GLUTEUS MAXIMUS...😉

Thanks for the words of encouragement..I needed it..I will follow Pork Chop and finish out this application cycle. If anyone has anymore suggestion that will be great..like what their schedule was like and what they studied on certain days..I think i have seen a thread about that but im not sure..I am wishing everyone the best as we all go thru this cycle..

If you can't be away from your son to just study for the DAT, I have no idea what you're going to do during dental school. If you want to get into d school you need to buckle down and study for MONTHS and not 2 weeks. You should consider this a wake-up call AND an opportunity because you cannot take it for 3 more months. Take this time to study hard. You need to learn this stuff cold.

yeah, i realized that....believe me, that was quite a wake up call....by the time dental school starts, my son should start school too...and my husband will receive his american pharmacy liscence too, right now even he is going thru tests. but u r right, i need to buckle down for this three months...thank u, for ur advice, it felt like a spray of cool mist on my face, to wake me up even better....
