anyone here been backpacking in the badlands? how was it, where and when is the best time to go? any recommendations for gear?

i'm thinking about late august/early september, but that might be suicidal with the summer heat up there.

(i know, i know, this thread shouldn't be in here, but i can't seem to access the everyone and lounge forums for some reason)

Actually I have, but it was some time ago on a boy scout trip (i know....NERD!!!) and i don't remember most of the details you're looking for. I can tell you it was a great time, its gorgeous out there

its all about eric badlands booker...but for some reason he cant beat a guy a third of his size in the hot dog eating contest at coney island on july 4th...it must seriously suck to participate in that and come in second...every year...

I haven't been to the Badlands (I'm sure it's awesome), but I just had to post and gloat that I'll be backpacking in Yosemite NP for a week next month. I can't wait. I did Big Bend NP during spring break and that was awesome, too. A very underrated (and uncrowded) park, but one of the best I've visited. Have fun!

I dont know about you surviving the badlands, but your thread might not survive being in the wrong forum.
