Hey,

this my first post, I hope I'm posting it in the right area.

Within the last week I've been accepted into John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health -Environmental Health Science program- for a Masters in Health Science in Environmental Health. This is a 9 month program, and I've specifically chosen their population health focus (there's an option for 3 focuses Global health, toxicology, population).
Their sample curriculum is pdf on their website (I dont know how to post just one page of a pdf here otherwise i would):

I've also been accepted to Barry's 2 (or 18 months) Year Biomedical Science program.

And I've been accepted into GeorgeMason's GeorgeSquared Advanced Biomedical sciences program, not the Gsquared SMP but their ABS program.

Now all three of these schools say they need to hear back within a week, I'm assuming b/c I've been accepted so late and they need to try to finalize their classes or what not.

My question is which of these programs is looked upon favorably by medical school committees (allopathic or osteopathic). I'm wondering which one holds more weight in the eyes of med schools. There's not really many statistics (in terms of matriculation to medical school) for the john hopkins program, and the respected ABS and Barry programs are inferior versions to their sister programs (Gsquared SMP and Barry 1 year)

my GRE score was a 1300, (610 verbal) (690 math) and my undergrad gpa was 2.7 science 2.96 overall, i really have no idea how or why i was accepted. i guess I bothered them enough and showed i can write competently.

I really have no idea which is the best one for me. I'm planning on taking the MCAT in september. And applying after that for the Fall 12 entrance, though I know its still a long shot, and that it would be better to apply after finish one year of the masters program. But i figured it wont hurt to try and avoid a year.

From what I hear. A SMP where you take medical school classes and excel in them give you the best chance. Look at the thread "Guide to Post-bac, SMP 2009 list." Its up at the top of the first page.

Ive heard some bad things about Barry as of late so I would say George Mason by a mile. You may even luck out when people who review your application mistake it for the other SMP haha

....but even a letter from the Dean of Bloomberg won't resurrect that gpa for med school. Grad programs are pretty grade-inflated, and SPH doesn't offer many rigorous science courses in which you can demonstrate academic strength.

are you kidding, comparing Barry to Hopkins!!!!!!!!!!!

Stay away from Barry. The program director left. they have no anatomy professor, the physiology professor is not teaching for them anymore, other professors are leaving. the program is now part of nursing school.
Too many red flags 😡

Hi! Sorry, but yea I heard the same things about Barry University. Did you end up liking the G2SMP program or Johns Hopkins Program? I was wondering what your experience was.

I think the plus about Johns Hopkins is that you might have time to do research if that was weak in your application. The G2SMP program is new, so I wanted to hear more about it.
