Did anyone attend any of them? Can you please share your experience?
Hi! I am actually at Barry right now and I was trying to decided between the two when I moved here from Atlanta. The only reason I chose Barry over Miami is because when I visited the campus it was massive. I felt like the point of enrolling in a postbac was to improve myself and my grades and at a campus as large as Miami, I thought I would become just a number.
Barry
Post Baccalaureate/Master of Biomedical Science Combination Program
* I believe this is a two-year program. After your post-bac, you will then be considered for acceptance into their Master's program.
You are correct. After you finish your required postbac undergard courses, you have to apply to be considered for the masters program. You would need 3 letters of recommendation and a personal statement if you didnt submit one with your postbacc application.
As far as timing, I will have finished Barry in two years but for others it depends on how many courses you take simultaneously (It could possibly take someone up to 30 months to comlete the program). This past spring I was in 6 courses and in the fall I took 5. I would only suggest taking this many courses at the same time if you are REALLY focused and determined to do your best; it is very easy to fall behind and the exams for all the classes that you wind up taking are detail oriented meaning YOU HAVE TO KNOW YOUR STUFF!!
Miami
Pre-Medical Post Baccalaureate
* I think you can complete this in one year if you start in the summer.
1. Which program is better?
I dont know which is better but I know that if you plan to work, you should be fine at Barry. Barry does not have a med school linkage so in that regard perhaps Miami would be better.
2. Which is more cost-effective?
Tuition at Barry for undergrad courses is close to 900 per credit hour and for undergrad 850 per credit hour. Very expensive but my experiences thus far have made it worthwhile!!
Thanks!
