Quinn pointed out that NSU has a couple nice bars right next to campus. I'd never thought of it before, but it seems like a good thing to know about a potential school.

So, which schools have either:

A)bars really close
B)cool bars nearby that are frequented by med students

Western/COMP has a gay bar on campus right in the middle of it. Crazy I know.

All I have to say is this is an important topic people!

you need to be able to vent and relax over a nice alcholic beverage.....

I can see it now....Robz needs his seven and seven after a nice long day of studying and playing in gross lab. Hmmmmmm. maybe crown royal too.

I will be too broke as a student to frequent "med school" bars with students who are as broke as me so I plan on having the patrons buying my drinks. 😉

Robz, look for bars where the women will buy you drinks because my broke @ss soon-to-be med student can't afford you . 😀

my tastes a little to high???? (that why I always get my friends coming back from the carribbean to get my alcohol at a decent price)

I'll take your advice....cause I'm @ss broke too.....I'll just have to work my charm and meet some new ladies!

If your charm doesn't work on the ladies, you can always try the men. 😉

Well, this is medical school....and I am poor.....

I could be one like a girl and play the field just to get a free drinks....common you know you they do it!

Again though, this is a serious topic! 😛

I am happy that Quinn pointed out that NSUCOM has two bars within walking distance from the school. I didn't notice any like that near LECOM or AZCOM.

I was driven to CCOM by taxi and I didn't want to walk around the neighborhood that UHS (or whatever its name is) was in.

I was given a tour by a UHS student of downtown Kansas City and shown the "cool" bars....ahhhhhh see even then I knew this was an imporant topic for medical school consideration!

OUCOM has like a thousand bars right next to the campus. I think I counted 5 in the immediate area. There is a huge BW3's right next to campus (FYI BW3's is a great wing place/sports bar type chain in OH I don't know if they are in other states). Erie, PA had Maxim's bar of the month like last June or July? The one with the three chicks from Charlie's Angels on it. It is called Choo Choo's and it has like 50 cent drafts. I have never been there though so I can't speak for how good it is.

Common! I bet there are more people like me that need to know where the bars are close to campus!

I don't drink coffee or soda....so alcohol is my drug of choice! 😛

I add to NSU again....they have a whole beach front of places that scream gimmie a drink in my hand....

Don't know if you can bring beverages on the beach though...I don't think you can.

Great topic guys... keep the info coming so I know which school to apply to 😀

Apparently most pre-DO's don't drink.

Robz, how were the bars in KC? And how far did you have to get from UHS before you felt safe going to the bars?

I'm allergic to alcohol!!! 😱 😱

there's no way out for me. I'm doomed. 😀

You know UHS (I decline to call it K-whatever) wasn't that far from the city. (10-15 max???) They have this place there that has stores that are like Sack's and Macy's really nice shopping. There was some fancy name but I can't remember it.

Anyway, There were a few bars around there that were cool to go to. I didn't spent a long time in KC as I flew in...stayed with a student host that showed me around (class of 2006) and got a whirlwind tour. I also met my aunt there and she HAD to have me try kansas city BBQ.

I didn't know until I was in the city it is famous for BBQ....

and yes..I had a nice drink with my BBQ too.

if thats true that sucks.....I'm sorry....I'll have one in your honor.

Hmmmmm I guess you have issues when getting shots too eh?

MSUCOM has tons of bars around, and the university is known for being one of the biggest party schools. So if you like getting wasted, burning couches, and tipping cars, this is definitely the place for you! But seriously, MSU is a fun place and the people are really laid back.

KCUMB (or UHS if you like) is really close to the Plaza, which has really good shopping and some good bars...Westport, however, is the place to be if you want to go and get wasted, but you could also get shot there ...but look at the bright side...if you get shot at least it won't hurt that much because you will be too drunk to feel it. Also there are a lot of great bars downtown, which is exactly why I am moving right smack in the middle of downtown!

I think I'm getting allergic to alcohol because each time I drink, I'm getting very short of breath almost like a suffocating feeling. I never had that before when I was younger. I wonder if you can grow allergic to something? 😕

BUT, that still hasn't stopped me. 😉

hey..i knew this girl in school who developed an allergy to wheat products and, as a result, was allergic to most alcohols...are you allergic to any wheat-containing products that you know of?? i just thought of that when i read your post and thought i'd throw it out there..

Ah, yes, for the drunkards in the crowd, do not take Maine lightly. UNECOM is 20 min from portland, 20 min from Kennebunk, and 10 min out of Biddo proper. All have a fine selection of places for beverage imbibation from your high-class to your hell-holes; Maine's got it. And if your looking for some watering hole in the sticks, your never more than 20 minutes from rural. And, dammit, Maine's a great place.
