Basic DAT Information

I'm currently pre-med, but kind of interested in dentistry as well. Can someone give me the basics about the DAT. What it covers, how it's scored, what score do you need to get in, etc? Thanks to anyone who can help me out 🙂

baically there's not physics and writing section. Substitute for them a big section on Perceptual ability (I'm not really sure how to describe it, you kinda have to see them but maybe someone else can).

unlike the MCAT, there's also a quantitative reasoning section (basically SAT math, but w/some basic trig thrown in)....the PAT section referred to is a 90 min. section (100q) divided into six components: keyholes, top-front-end, angle ranking, hole punching, cube counting, pattern folding. It is something you need to see yourself to get an idea of. The nat'l sciences section of the exam is also 90 min. w/40 bio, 30 g.chem, and 30 o. chem questions. The nat'l sciences, q.reasoning, reading and PAT sections are all scored on a scale of 30 max. The nat'l sciences section is also broken down into individual scores for each subject, again on a 30 pt. scale. While technically a 30 is possible, usually if you get just one or two questions wrong on a section it knocks you down to a 24 or 26 (the scale is a little weird). Schools look at your academic average score (an avg. of your sciences, reading, and reasoning scores) and PAT score....Most schools avg. around 18 on each as their average, give or take. hope this info helps.... 🙂
