what is the difference between basolateral side and the paracellular space?? I think they are both just the space between two cells.... plz correct me

thanks

The basolateral membrane is plasma membrane that makes up a cells basal and lateral surfaces, and the apical membrane is the part that makes up the lumen surface of a cell...dunno if that helps.

The basolateral side refers to the parts of the cell where as the paracellular space is whats between two adjacent cells. Think of it as each of the brick walls of two neighboring houses (the lateral sides of the cells) and the walkway between the houses (the paracellular space).
