My husband's employer may transfer him to San Francisco when I graduate in 2013 and I am looking for a SA internship nearby -- preferably one at a private hospital that also sees exotics. I was browsing the remaining unmatched internships on virmp and noticed that a certain specialty hospital did not match any of their 5 open internship positions. What's up with that?
That led me to wonder if anyone who has grown up in or around the Bay Area -- or any of you at Davis and Western -- has inside info on the specialty practices there. Are there hospitals that have to fight off their internship applicants with a stick, or any that are known for treating their interns like personal assistants? I don't necessarily need to work with "the legendary (famous dr. name here)," but I do want my first clinical experience to be in a workplace where techs are treated with respect, associates and mentors are patient, and quality of care is top priority.
I've lived my whole life in the South and Midwest, so I'm clueless and would really appreciate some help! If you're more comfortable PM'ing me about it that's fine with me.
TIA!
