I know this has been discussed in general, but I wanted to get an idea specifically for the Bay Area programs (Stanford, UCSF, Davis). I got a 235 on Step 1- good, but not a free ticket in. I'm wondering what the programs' attitudes in general are for Step 2, as I've heard a few different things. If a good score would definitely significantly improve my chances, I'd take it early, but they're ambivalent about it, I'd rather put it off till later in the year.

Any thoughts?

I was told that this year the UCSF step I cut off was between 230 and 235.

I appreciate that info, but it doesn't really answer my original question. I'm trying to find out if the programs put any weight on Step 2, or if taking it early would be any advantage.
