You can check my MDapps for details, but my general numbers are 36S MCAT 3.85 overall and 3.76 BCPM. Baylor is my first choice, but I really wonder if I have much of a shot, especially being from out of state/not at a top 10 school. Has anyone seen success w/ this type of application? Any schools that I have a better shot at with similar focus on patient care as opposed to research-heavy?

Dude, are you serious? Your numbers are outstanding even for a top-rated school like Baylor. If anything's going to be a problem, it's your clinical experience which is average-ish. Don't sweat it. You're in great shape.

I'm applying with similar stats (36R, 3.7GPA). I think we have a shot -- there's no reason why we wouldn't...

Wouldn't list it as a safety, but I'd say our odds are as good as any.

I'm from Texas, and I've heard that Baylor only accepts 10% out-of-staters (around 20 people), and we all know it be a very big research school....so if you have research experience, milk it for all its worth.

Nevertheless, yall both have great stats so you might just be one of the lucky out-of staters! I wish you the best.

Baylor accepts ~30% out-of-state-students. My understanding is that they are required to accept ~70% in state residents by the Texas Legislature since they receive state funding.

Also, Baylor (just like every other med school) looks at applications as a whole. You don't HAVE to do research to be a desirable candidate. Some people don't enjoy research and preferred spending their time in the hospital or volunteering in the community. There are other meaningful experiences that a person can spend their time on to make them a strong applicant. The only instance I can think of where research is strongly emphasized is for the MSTP program.

Apply and see what happens. If you want it bad enough, go after it! best of luck, my friends! Baylor is a GREAT school!

Join the club, although my cGPA is a bit lower than yours (AOs and I didn't really get along), I hope that we all get interviews! Best of luck to all of us!

Edit: I got an interview at Baylor...like I said, similar stats.
