I am very thankful for acceptances to Baylor (oos) and Vanderbilt and my decision will likely come down to these two since I have not gotten an A call from NYU. I did not receive merit $$ from Vandy but know at the most, Baylor will be ~$36k compared to Vandy $70k--plus living for both. I'm most interested in otolaryngology and know that Vandy has a very strong ENT department & residency. I haven't heard about Baylor scholarships but know that I could receive in-state at only ~$23k if I get a $1k scholarship. I went to the Baylor open house in October and really loved the program but I have family in Nashville and that is so appealing. Are the ranking differences or chances for solid ENT match that different between the two? I won't qualify for financial aid and I have heard that Vanderbilt does not negotiate or match other offers. LM is 83.

Thank you! Do you know when Baylor sends scholarship information? I just received full tuition from an in-state school but I think Baylor is a better fit for me.
Which instate school?
You have asked the same question many times about Baylor scholarship and while they may offer you one as we have said before, they don’t like to bargain with you against other offers

Apologies--I have asked only once about Baylor scholarships (in a DM to you because you are knowledgeable about Texas schools) and that was before the Vanderbilt acceptance. There was no mention in your answer about Baylor not negotiating, and at your suggestion, I looked back through past years' thread on Baylor's scholarship timeline and there didn't seem to be an obvious pattern like other schools have. So when someone who also is very familiar with TX replied today, I thought I'd ask if they knew about timelines or negotiating.

It depends on your priorities.
$$ priority:
Vanderbilt is very generous with scholarships so I hope you get one.
Otherwise your full tuition at home state will be the most affordable, and Baylor even with no scholarship will be half of Vandy price.

Overall education quality priority:
I think Vandy and Baylor are equal in mentorship, reputation, and wide opportunities.
You haven't named your IS school

Overall quality of education is my top priority with finances second. I don't believe my IS full tuition option can provide the amount of opportunities that either Baylor of Vanderbilt can provide but I am getting a lot of advice about the benefits of coming out of medical school with little to no debt. I did not receive merit $$ from Vanderbilt so knowing I can go to Baylor for at least half of Vanderbilt tuition makes it my best overall option to date, especially if the differences are little to none in reputation, etc.

Unfortunately I am not privy to any further information about BCM's scholarship process. That being said, I can tell you unequivocally that if you asked 100 attending physicians about the choice of going to Vanderbilt at full price, BCM at 1/2 price, and state school for free, 99 of the responses will be state school for free (in fact I am part of a social media group of attending physicians and that same question was asked today from one of the people on behalf of their child for choosing between Mayo/UCSF for full tuition and Arkansas for free)

There are only a few circumstances where it would make more sense to choose the higher pedigree school i.e. going to the coastal schools if you have some aspirations of doing biotech/VC stuff or going MD/PhD route doing research in some super specific field. As Wysdoc said, you haven't provided the in-state school so difficult to provide more specific recommendation but even with the understanding that not all state schools are created equal nor the opportunities at them, it would be very very very difficult to dismiss a free ride to state school.

Good luck
