when people say, 'i need a doctor', they're usually thinking about family docs or generalist. not a specialist like a radiologist. but to be a radiologist you have to have a good bed side manner (bc its part of your evaluation in the wards). so isn't it kinda ironic that a field such as rad, would have a lot of people who have good bed side manner yet don't have much patient contact.

any thoughts?

ironic on a superficial level, but in reality it makes perfect sense. Most people with good bedside manners make a concerted effort to treat their patients with utmost respect. It is these same people who will quickly realize that it is too draining to have to keep such an effort up when you are working up 10+ patients, having these same ungracious patients spit and curse back at you, filling out silly paperwork, trying to get patients in and out of the hospital as quickly as possible, answer ridiculous pages from nurses, all while still trying to leave at a decent hour. Its just not worth it. That is why smart people will choose radiology.
