Beginning an SMP in July. Should I fill out applications for med school now?

I was just accepted to a DO SMP with guaranteed admission pending successful academic performance. I already exceed some of the requirements for admission so all I need to do is have positive faculty reviews and at least a B+ gpa. I am more than happy to go to the associated DO program upon completion. But is it worth applying for others now?

I applied last year, had one interview and they rejected me, suggesting I apply to their new SMP with interview-guarantee. I applied to this other one with the admit-guarantee and still can’t believe I got in. Very excited. I have already canceled my MCAT retake.

Basic stats:
38yo, 10+ years as a CNA. Now an entomologist. Soon a FT student.
ucGPA: 3.2
usGPA: 2.9
pbGPA: 3.7
MSc GPA (entomology) : 3.2
MCAT: 498

If I apply again do I keep the app the same? If change it how much? Any other suggestions?

Thanks everyone!

No med school is going to accept you, or even consider your app merely because you're in an SMP. The'll want to see your grades first.

Go with the sure thing.

Essentially what I figured. Just wanted to run it by the hive mind.

Thanks.

The program is on your approved schools list so that gives them an extra gold star as far as I’m concerned! Goro tested. Goro approved.

Thanks again.

You should re take MCAT and bring your score above 500.
