Hey guys,

What's your opinion on finishing the uworld questions first (tutor mode) prior to reading first aid? I will then re-do the uworld questions after reading first aid. I think this will make getting through first aid less daunting since it will give me an idea of what is important to know.

Thanks,

Otterpop

If you got the time, go for it.

Qbanks takes an assload of time.

i tried this at first...but it didnt work....but it may work for u

everyone is different

my rooomate who was a yr ahead of me, only watched DIT and used first aid (didn't do uworld) and got a 238....he watched DIT to the point of how some ppl listen to goljian....like he could anticipate what DIT was gonna say next....i think he said he watched it b/w 4-5 times...and apparently he watched him on VLC player on .8 speed...bc i dunno if u guys know, but he speaks FASTTTT....i do 1.0 but im constantly pausing and all

My baseline knowledge is probably average.

Fortunately, I think I have the time to do this 🙂, and think I will if people here don't think it's a bad idea.

Do you mind if I ask why my proposed plan didn't work for you?

Congratulations to your roommate!

Damn, I think I'm going to try that in the last 7 weeks. Doing USMLERx right now, should be done 7 weeks from the test.

A first read in FA doesn't hurt. It's good to get an idea of the contents and to see after when you do UW if something's missing in FA that you might wanna take note. and sometimes you will be reading UW with no idea of what they're talking about and can't integrate and correlate things you learned from FA. uw is good to put you think about things you learned from FA, let's say it puts your neurotransmitters dancing, and if you don't have the bases you can't put them to dance lol but if you know FA at a reasonable level go on and start UW.

these were my 2 cents, everyone has different opinions. and I red about a guy that did UW 6 times and nothing more and got 260 or so lol

those who have paid for it can only see it 2 times.. that was my case. I recommend the program, watch it once and do his notes is pretty enough

A horrible idea, don't think at all it would have been helpful for me. Learning the material through those explanations at the ends of questions takes forever. The q bank should be used to reinforce your knowledge, to practice using what you know, to point out your weaknesses and add those few drops of trivia not found in FA.

Ask your school advisers, they'll say the same.

t will give me an idea of what is important to know.

An NBME practice test will give you a much more realistic idea of what to know. USMLEworld is some seriously discouraging heavy lifting and the scores from their practice tests seem calibrated poorly.

Hey guys, thanks a lot for all your responses. I will read first aid before doing the questions since most of you support that. I'm glad I asked this question here before starting to study.
