Any info regarding this as a career ? What is the fellowship like ? Doing my PGY-1 right now and considering my future. I've always enjoyed Ramachandran and Sacks.

On the other hand, it seems like this fellowship would push me into an academic career. Whereas I am already a bit sick of the grind, and ready to get out into the "real world" with a regular schedule and life outside of work. Don't get me wrong, I love reading about this stuff in my free time... but schedule-wise, I do not want the stress of an academic position.

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

I always thought of this as an interesting area of neurology, perhaps due to my original infatuation with the cortex and specifics of speech and language. I know of zero people doing this from my own residency program. I suspect that a career would be best served in academics, given the meticulous nature of the history and physcial examination in this subspecialty (ie it's super time consuming and does not reimburse so great). Maybe some bona fide cognitive/behavioral people can chime in and offer better advice.

I can offer you no details of the fellowship itself beyond links that you may already know such as the Cleveland Clinic webpage (great resource for some very general information about various neurology fellowships), etc. However, I cannot resist mentioning the neurology section at UF (Ken Heilman is a great person to talk to, hear lecture, and is the first name that jumped to my mind when you asked about this subspecialty).

Cleveland Clinic (the Behavioral section is under the UCNS fellowships):

UF Memory/Cognitive section info:

http://neurology.ufl.edu/divisions-2/memory-and-cognitive-disorders/

UF Cognitive/Behavioral fellowship stuff:

Hope this helps. Check out the University of Florida...

Thanks for the info. Any others interested in this field? I have not met many IRL intending to pursue this field.
