Cerb, I can understand your disappointment, but I think your getting too upset about a 29. For most schools the average is 30-ish get in, which puts you right in the ballpark. Yes, getting into a top-ranked school is a reach, but it sounds like you should get in somewhere.

agreed. you don't need to start any additional whiny threads. you're going to be fine, and if you're THAT worried about it- take the MCAT again! but you can't keep worrying and complaining about it forever.

I pretty much agree with that; except for WashU, if a school has a 33 or 34 MCAT average, which is about the highest, then they have some 40's and some 28-29's for sure too, and your GPA is totally right in there.
Did you have any eraser problems on the MCAT, because then the hand-scoring should manage those as well.

Cerb, you're going to get in. Your application may be "average", but it's good enough to get you in, and that's all that matters - right? BTW, it's good to keep things in perspective - this board is disproportionately filled with over-achievers, so even though things look down, they're really not and you're in good shape. How long did they say it would take to rescore your MCAT? Since you were scoring around 34 on the practices, I would be very interested in what the outcome is. Especially since you said that you didn't think it was that much harder and the fact that you put marks on the scantron itself. I think those marks could really affect the score.

Keep us posted. I hope your rescore comes out to that 36.

I think it can be fun, but it's sort of in the middle of nowhere, and it's not very big. But there are fun places and it's nice to have SU right there since there are sporting events and bars and stuff. My brother goes to SU and loves it, but I think Syracuse is probably... an acquired taste. 😉 It's a great school, though... I'm just messin' with you.

hey there is nothing wrong with living in the coldest, snowiest place in the universe...or that's what i keep telling myself, shivering and shoveling 10 months out of the year in rochester, new york. but i would go to u of r in a heartbeat if they will have me. stay here another 4 years. 👍
