I'm applying to NYCOM as well as MD schools in the NY metro area this summer. I'm hoping for some clarification and maybe suggestions on my situation. This is not a what are my chances thread. 😉

34 yo URM nontrad, will graduate in june 2006, Sci GPA about 3.4 and Overall GPA 3.2(both with lots of repeats unfortunately). I'm taking the August 2005 MCAT and have not taken the MCAT previously. I am about done with my AACOMAS application and just need to polish up my PS. I'm using interfolio and should have all of my LORs in their files July 4th.

Main things I would like to know:

even though my GPA looks fair for NYCOM I have a lot of repeats and I don't want to get rejected pre-secondary. Should I wait until my MCAT scores are available in October in hopes of having a decent score to help my chances of getting an interview?

Does NYCOM grant interviews before MCAT grades come in?(probably a dumb question)

When does NYCOM start notification of interviews and when do they start interviewing?

NYCOM still does secondaries during the interviews so either you get an interview invite or an invite after completing AACOM?

any general comments are appreciated as well.

Thanks!!

i know that you will be getting your secondary in the same letter that invites you for your interview. Its kinda nice since you dont really pay for a secondary unless you get that interview. You will fill it out and bring it with you to the interview. Also, you can fill out your acomas application w/o the mcat grades and it will be "complete" but im not sure if they will mail it to the schools. Plus they arent going to invite you for an interview w/o an mcat grade anyways. its not like they look at your application and decide you are getting an interview w/o a mcat grade. most likely it just sits there if it even gets there w/o the mcat grade. but i have spoken to aacomas and they said mcat is not a requirement in the primary application.
