I am starting my second apps: What are the schools looking for in the statements? Long / short ? Something specific? "Why do I want to be a DO? I could easly write 500 words. Any help from those that have been there before would be great.

Thanks in advance,
Rachel

Best advice....speak from the heart and put it in your own words.

then reread it and proofread it again. There are no solid answers for essay questions as thats why they ask them.

Write about your passions, why you like medicine (particular osteopathic medicine if your gung ho), and what led you to your current position.

Remember to proofread it....spelling mistakes are a huge turnoff.

Try and think-what would I write if I had a 35 MCAT, 4.0 GPA, awesome ECs and extreme confidence? The answer is that I would totally exude confidence and be myself, as well as answer questions honestly. I think all that really impresses schools.
