i have an interview in a couple of days and i have a bad cold/headache/sore throat......may even be strept. It is at a top 5 school and i dont want to cancel it and i think if i postpone i wont have a shot at getting in....being so late in the season and all especially at a rolling school. What should i do. ANy advice on what i should do ?

Go to the doctor so you don't die of scarlet fever if it is strep.

Get treated if it is. Anyway, you don't think you are the only sick one do you? Suck it up.

Well how sick are you? Can you still go thorugh the day without having your sickness be too much of a detriment? I say if its really bad, give em a call and see if they can fit you in for the same week. If the next available spot to reschedule to is way down the line, Id say, get your rest and prepare to interview sick- just make sure your interviewers know you are so if you are sneezing/blowing your nose/out of it/etc... they are aware of it and won't hold it against you.

I would say just try and go. I mean you don't miss class if you're sick right? Unless you're really really sick, of course. If you think it's something serious, see a doctor... but if it's probably just something common.

Once one girl in a performing group I'm in was sick, and that weekend we had to fly to Texas (from CA) for a performance. She got better WHILE we were in Texas, and she was sure as hell glad she didn't drop out. The point is, if I were in your shoes, for a top 5 school? It would take me being in the HOSPITAL for me to cancel the interview. And during the interview itself, hide it as best you can :>

lots of water/fluids, food, rest, medications. on interview day, get yourself in the right mindset by just telling yourself to in essence 'man up' for those couple of hours of interviews. for the rest of the time, i'd just conserve my energy and not try to be the most social interviewer by trying to talk to everyone. at least that was my strategy for the couple of times i was pretty sick on interview days, and i think it went fine. a lot of it is really in your mindset, so don't start feeling sorry for yourself but view it as a challenge.

Thanks guys. It is pretty bad i sound like i am barry white and my head is pounding. Yes i stayed home on friday but you are right suck it up and ill try to pretend i am not sick on the interview between each and every hacking cough. My main concern was not getting the interviewers sick as they might resent me for it and vote against me. Oh well i didnt expect to even get the secondary from the school so i will just take some meds. ANyonw know what can drug me up enough to pass as normal?

i went w/ regular tylenol on the interview day, cough med the night before that makes you drowsy, and kept a bag of coughdrops with me for the interview. also try to get warm water for your throat, or atleast something warm like tea, b/c unfortunately most of the refreshments served like soda/bottled water are usually cold and not good if youre sick.

thanks guys. Ill let you know how it goes.......if i dont die before then.👍
