Bell Curves

What classes usually have bell curves? I'm taking a class in the fall with a bunch of other ambitious pre meds and only the top 10% get As, I'm ready to study my ass off but so are they .

some professors give 25% A's some give 30% some 5% it really depends on the professor not the class.

I am so thankful I went to a school that used nothing but the straight scale. No funky pluses or minuses, and no bell curves. Plus, it would have been hard to give 10% of the class an A when my physics class had 7 people. Now I'm beginning to realize how lucky I am, and how good that was for my GPA.

Curves depend on the professor, and probably the school, but not the class.

In my school, pretty much all the sciences (except math) were curved. Bio, chem, and physics classes all had standard curves. Humanities, social sciences, etc. were all straight scales or skewed.

I dunno about that, but most of the sane professors at my school basically looked at the class average, and then just made that a C.

So if a 55 is the class average, then a 55 is a C, 70 is B, and 85 is A.

I think most to all of my science classes (including many upper division) had curves. However, the scale was usually only dropped 1-2% from a normal grading scale. The curve was usually set at the end, so it just depends on how the class does as a whole. I don't think any of my gen ed or minor courses (in humanities) were curved.
