So I was just invited to interview at Belmont on 2/24. Only thing holding me back is that they explicitly stated in their email I would be interviewing for a spot on their wait list since all their seats are full. I like their program, but I'm from California and going to Tennessee is a big expense. I haven't been accepted anywhere yet, but I don't know if flying out there is worth such a slim chance. Thoughts?

I understand how you're feeling and your thoughts of not wanting to fly out there because of the cost. That being said maybe you can ask if they could schedule a skype interview for you. I've heard of one program offering that. I have been waitlisted at several program and yesterday I was accepted to a program from their waitlist. I didn't expect that and am thrilled! No one really knows the chances of getting off a waitlist but if you're not on it, then you have no chance for acceptance. If you don't go and you don't get in to another program will you kick yourself afterwards? Would you go to Belmont if you got accepted from their waitlist? I hope this helped. Good luck!

I don't know if you're still deciding on this or not, but I live here in Nashville, know and work with some recent grads, and have a spare room if you need a place to stay. I interviewed there in November and am on the waitlist, but I plan to decline- the program wasn't for me. But...they did say that if anyone was on the waitlist and they applied early decision next year, then they may accept without interview. I don't know if that was just a promise to the first interviewees or if that holds for all on the waitlist, just a thought.

Thanks so much Mfairchild! I luckily have a friend who lives in Nashville, so I won't be spending money on a hotel. I accepted the interview, but I'm hoping I'll get an acceptance before I go.
