Is anyone intimately familiar with this program? I would love to rotate with Dr. Carson as a 4th year, but I dont know how competitive this program is or how competitive the clerkships are. I would also love to end up @ Stanford, but that is another story...

I thought that Ben Carson was at Hopkins?

Yes, Ben Carson is at Hopkins, not Stanford

...when i was looking up electives, I thought I ran across him at Stanford, but now I look and see that he is not there. Was it that he attended Stanford? Maybe I am getting his book confused with the current-day reality (that happens sometimes)...

Regardless, I would still like to rotate with Dr. Carson and match @ Stanford 🙂 I know that matching at Stanford is probably not likely, but I wonder how hard it is to get such a visiting clerkship?

Dr Carson is now, and has been at Hopkins for several years. Although he went to medical school at Michigan, he's been at Hopkins since his internship. He did take a brief leave from clinical duties about a year ago, but he's working full-time now. He's an amazing surgeon and takes a special interest in teaching medical students (and quizzing them on classical music) in the OR.

Cheers,

MS IV, Johns Hopkins

maybe he did a visiting professorship at stanford

Yeah, I read his bio again. I thought I noticed, when he was on the cover of Time a few years back, that he was either at Stanford or had some affiliation there...regardless, does anyone have any insight into his pediatric NS clerkship? It sounds like an amazing experience.
