Hi,

I would like to know the information how you stayed there in LA since you are not from LA.
Do we have to stay there or do we coimmute up & down. Please let me know. How do we get the materials?

It will be really nice if you can let me know these.

Thanks

i stayed at my cousins place in LA. but many students used to fly in once a week from various parts of the country as we had the class only one day a week. the the students in LA either shared apartments close to duggans or stayed in motels. and most of us purchased the instruments/materials from duggan as they have a store there too and the prices were reasonable enough and we got what we exactly needed for the class.

i know that it is financially very demanding, course fees, instruments, lodging or travelling expenses but we had no choice.

Hey tx dentist

If it isn't too much to ask, will you please say aproximatly how much you spent in all this. I will like to know about materials cost, how much does it totals to? What type of course you took? How much did it cost?

Thanks

i spent app. $5000 for the course and instruments inc. the compressor .. i prob. need another $1500 worth instruments/materials to practice at home and to take the test IF i receive my admission ticket for August 2003 ..

Thanks tx dentist.

About the instruments they ask you about, didn't you had those from dental school? Or are they different ones?

Thanks again.

Ugh, importing more foreigners when our economy has no place for them....

Would India let me take the dental boards there? Didn't think so.

i didnt have any of my instruments from dental school so i had to buy them again .. only the amalgam instrument set was familiar .. the new hand pieces, different burs and the impression materials, impression trays, wax patterns etc..etc.. were all NEW to me .. except that i only saw all that stuff in our text books ..

why dont you call duggans and check if your old instruments would be sufficient for the course ..i doubt it though ..

Wow wow wow!!! A flame bait?

Do you complain as loud when you buy cheap clothings at Macy's, cheap electronics at Best Buys, cheap food at Safeway? Or if it is okay to take advantage of others (and global competition) when it is to your benefit?

Let's not forget ALL are immigrants. Without *foreigners* there will be no Silicon Valley. Without the brain drain from rest of the world to here will America be so prosperous? I don't think so.

I understand your insecurity when you have to compete head to head with others, but deal with it. Hitting the books, reading about other cultures, understanding how economy works will be good places to start.

Maybe it's just my experience ... I found the girl (I believe her name is Christine) in charge of supply is less than helpful and courteous ... to put it mildly. So good luck trying to extract any information from her.

Her name is Christina
and she is notorious for what you have experienced

you were probably ever better treated than some other folks

and I am sure anyone who knows this person shares my feeling

Good reply tengu3. I have also replied to FMLizard in an
another thread. But no answer from him/her.

Btw, FMLizard, you can go to India and take the Dental
board test and even practice if you want. India already
has many Chinese dentist practicing at her financial
capital, Mumbai(Bombay). India is not afraid of competition,
only people like you are 🙂
