I am currently considerring DDS/DMD/Phd program (U Alabama has caught my eye), and I was wondering what ones take. I have been actively pursuing research for the past 2 years and I love the aspect of dentistry. I'm interested in pursuing a PhD, however, I don't think research for the next 50+ year is my destiny. Although I wouldn't mind working on a nice project (as I am now). In the future, I would love to match into a specitaly program in possibly ortho (as well as everyone else does, too). Thus, I was wondering if a PhD would be worthwhile in pursuit my goals? Also, time isn't an issue- I'll be applying this cycle and turning 19 with a BS...
