I was wondering peoples input on studying philosophy undergra and doing pre-med. I just graduated with a BS in philo and did pre-med, and the some, and was wondering if it was taken into great consideration, none or just some what.
Thanks for your thoughts.

I'm not on any admissions committee, but I doubt it's treated that much differently from say a sociology major or a psychology major, or an accounting major that did pre-med prerequisite courses in addition to their major.

It may give you something interesting to talk about in interviews, since you aren't a biology major like 70% (made up number) of applicants.

I think it's great. Especially if you did well in both areas. It demonstrates your ability to do well in different areas of study and distinguishes you a little bit from other applicants. In some ways it can be advantageous and vice versa.

Do you have a bit more of a specific question regarding this type of dual academic achievement?

Great for law/LSAT. Probably not so much for med school.

You might spend an inordinate amount of time trying to reconcile Aristotle's fundamental positum of "substantial form" in the face of organ transplant, or the distinction between "artifact" and "substance" while studying organic....but that's about it....

You're probably better off throwing Aristotle out the door and asserting that the basis of being is atomistic and that "substance" is bs.

Ha. Anticipated. Would love a philosophical debate on metaphysics, but nobody gives a **** (including myself).
