To the Berkeley applicants on this board, how did it go for you guys?

Even though they said they would notify us mid to late February, I've still been checking my email obsessively the past week.

They sent me a email yesterday said they want me to re-send a copy of official transcript. The one that I gave them on the interview day was not in the original envelope. Ha ha, I was that stupid. Having a bad feeling that I will be rejected.

Ha, well.... if they had the intentions of rejecting you would they go through the trouble of having you resend your transcript?

haha pphm, the exact same thing happened to me. Who knew that opening the envelope made it unofficial!? well there goes another 20 bucks to applications...

You know what, Elaine, I paid the second day shipping for them to ship my transcript from one building to the other at Cal, which is my undergrade school. -_-!

haha, don't worry I've been checking my email as well... even though I don't expect anything for the next week or two. I think my interview went really well, but thinking back I said some pretty stupid things... I remember just rambling on and on and there was a constant voice in my head saying "shut up shut up shut up" hahaha... but what can ya do now? I think I'm just nervous cause I was in the company of some great people, and in the back of my mind I know they're gonna reject 30ish of us. Plus I asked people how their interviews went and everybody seemed to think it went well, sooooo... yeah. Either way, I'm excited to have gotten an interview at all and glad to have had the opportunity to meet some of my fellow applicants/potential future classmates. Good luck to all of you!

Has anyone heard yet? The month of February is almost over!

I have gotten a call from Berkeley Admissions offering me a place. Best of luck everyone!

I don't post on here a lot, but I just wanted to reassure those waiting because I got my call at almost 5 pm, and Dr. Van Sluyters says they've called less than half of the list. It's because he actually spends time on the phone explaining the process, answering questions, etc. Good luck and go do something relaxing in the meantime!

Congrats to all who got in!! Got no phone call 🙁

ahhh I really hope they aren't doing it in order by alphabet... I'd be one of the first ones they would call but I didn't receive my phone call either 🙁

Dr. Van Sluyters said they did not call half the lists yet? GREAT!!

Hey everyone, doesn't that make you feel better? And don't worry about the alphabetical thing. I know of some people who have last names at the end of the alphabet that got their calls today. All in all, we all were able to interview at Berkeley, and I am sure every one of us who really wants to become an optometrist, will become one.

We're all great! =] (at least that is what i tell myself everyday. ^_^)

ahh yes! And congrats to you all who have been accepted already! You lucky ducks!

I'm almost afraid to ask but has anyone heard anything today? Congrats on those who got in so far! It must be really nice to finally know...!

FYI, I got a call around noon to notify me of acceptance. They are making more calls today. Good luck to you all.

Congrats to all who have received acceptances. I'm still anxious. Does anyone know if they will continue to make phone calls this week or is today the last day?

I don't think the admissions office is done notifying candidates of their acceptances! My heart sank at 5 pm PST but I got a call at 5:10 pm. My phone conversation with Dean Van Sluyters lasted for about 30 minutes so I can imagine that it would take a long time for him to get through everyone.

Good luck everyone! Hopefully everyone will hear back soon.

Thanks for the heads up jsee and Congratulations!!!!!! 🙂

I just received my call today and I am sooo relieved/excited! For those of you who haven't heard anything yet... all hope is not lost! I asked how everything is going, and Dean Van Sluyters said he still had many more phone calls to make. Good luck to you all and congrats again to everyone who has been accepted! Can't wait to meet you all in April! 🙂

I just got my call too!! I asked and apparently they are making more phone calls today up until the end of the week . Congratulations to everyone who has been accepted and to those who haven't received their call yet, don't lose hope and I wish you the best!!

Tomorrow is the last day of Feb. Anyone without getting a phone call heard anything? :scared:

Don't quote me on this or take it as gospel truth, but I would think that UCBSO would waitlist the remaining ~30 people who didn't receive phone calls. I know a lot of people who have interviewed in the past few years at UCBSO, and I don't personally know anyone who was outright rejected after the interview. I would especially think so because they interviewed so few people this year--105--and the fact that they offer acceptance to ~78 people. Maybe the remainder are waitlisted to ensure that they will have a full class size.

Best of luck to you, pphm. I really believe that the odds are very good for everyone that was interviewed.

I am one of those students who never received any type of notice. To be honest, I'm very upset at UCBSO. I thought they said they were going to tell everybody at the same time via email, the same way they have been notifying their interviewees for years. Why the change? Instead, the +30 people who weren't called yet continue to wait in a living hell, hoping and praying that their phone will ring. I checked my phone every day and every hour last week in agony and now I'm numb to the whole situation. (Keep in mind that UCBSO is my #1)

I think this was a very poor way in notifying everyone fairly and borderline unprofessional. Yeah, if you received your phone call, you probably don't agree with me. But consider the situation from my point of view: waiting and waiting without a single response while people around you knew their statuses 5 days ago. I just really wish I knew definitively where I stand. Any type of response would have been nice LAST WEEK.

Did anyone else feel that way?

Congratulations to those called and admitted. You are so blessed.

I'm sorry that you didn't receive a call, and I agree with your sentiments to a certain degree. When I found out that people were receiving calls on Tuesday evening, my heart sank. I took a nap when I got home, and I was even having nightmares while I was napping. When I went to bed that night, I was in and out of sleep, having nightmares and dreading a rejection. In that sense, it was very agonizing the way the phone calls were spread out so thinly over the course of the week.

However, I knew that this was going to happen. I know people who have been admitted for the past 3 years, and all received notification by phone. So I expected voicemails/phone calls, and I wasn't worried about checking my email. I think the email notification method is at least 5 years old, and they don't use it anymore.

I agree; I think the humane way to do it would be to send everyone an email on the same day with their status. The admissions committee tries to be very thorough over the phone, which I appreciated, but stretching out the notification process over a week is torturous.

I would suggest calling the office on Monday and asking for your status; at least then you know where you stand and don't have to check your phone every hour. If you're waitlisted you still have a decent chance since a number of people will decline admission. Best of luck and hope everything works out!

Hmmm, I wasn't aware of that. Whoops, too late! I empathize with your situation and I truly hope that you go to an amazing school. The best advice I received: It doesn't matter if you go to your #1, #3, or even your #10. Every school is going to be different, but the experience is purely what you make of it. And if you don't go to school this year, well, get over it and try again. At this point, it's not a matter of "if" you'll get there, but "when". Best of luck. :luck:

Don't know if I have the cojones to do that, but thanks for luck and congrats! I'm sure they'll give me a notice tomorrow (or will they?). Yaknow, it really will work out in the end for all of us.

I was accepted to UCBSO on Wed, but I was just agreeing with your point about the torture of waiting. Honestly, though, I wish the best of luck to you, and ideally you are at the top of that waitlist. 🙂

👍 😳

I wonder if i can find the people who use student doctor forum in class.

Did anybody else hear anything today? I sincerely hope you guys find out soon! I know I felt as though waiting over 24 hours was torturous and I got my phone call last Thursday. At one point I would have rather heard I was rejected than keep waiting in the dark, so I feel for those who still haven't heard back.

I agree with some of the previous posts. I think they should email us all at the same time, THEN make the phone calls to talk with everyone and give the needed information... so that people aren't waiting, plus they will already be expecting a phone call.

For those of you that DID get your acceptance calls, have you made your final decision on what school to attend? I gave up my spot at SCO (my no. 2 choice), so I'll be attending UCBSO in the fall! Excited to meet you all!
