Did any of the residents from previous years sign up for any frequent flyer programs during the interview season and score some good rewards? I figure if you're going to be doing a lot of traveling anyways, might as well get something back for it.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Southwest Airlines was pretty good last year, I got a free flight by the end of interviewing. Also Priceline is awesome. You can get great hotels (for the rare program that doesn't put you up) and cars. I rented a car for 10/day I think when normally it would have been 40. Also, I would make use of the subway/metro in towns that have them, they usually go to the airport and the savings can be pretty good.

I signed up for hotel memberships during interviews. However, I was already a member of several frequent flier programs before interviews (and an airline club). I tend to fly American because I'm elite, and I tend to have the best service with them. I used most of my memberships, including free flights, and I got a lot of miles from flying -- probably enough for a free flight, but I don't remember, and I don't really redeem the miles yet.
