talk to your second years. you don't need one lots of places

Depends on how biochem is done at your school. At many schools, you may not need a book at all since there will be notes from the profs to use. If your school has a relatively general biochem class and you want a text, I like Lippincott's Illustrated Reviews. The diagrams are great, and there's a quick review section at the end that I used to review biochem for Step 1. But I agree with gravity; ask the second years at your school before you go buy anything.

Lippincott. Long, drawn out (literally and fiuratively), excellent pictures, thorough. If youre teaching yourself biochem, this is the one to use.

BRS Biochem. Highest-Yield, preferred for shelf, cheap, short. You paid attention in class, now you want the step and shelf material.

Rapid Review Biochem. Poor reviews. never used it.

First Aid. Incomplete, too condensed for use in coursework. Obvi perfect for Step 1.
