Hi all,
I took a year off to do an MPH and am now back in my fourth year of medical school and gearing up for STEP II CK (already took CS). I did well on my step1 using FA and world and a few other sources. I have heard that STEP II CK is a different beast though. What books would you recommend for me? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Fizzbot

Also, if anyone knows how to run USMLE World on their Droid or from a browser please holla! I'm stuck in the hospital doing shift work alot this month!

Best wishes everyone

I think this has been addressed before but I'll let you know what I used anyway: USMLE world, FA step II and secrets. Haven't gotten my score back but I feel okay. Good luck!

First AId Step 2 or USMLE Secrets or Step Up to Medicine

then

USMLE World or Kaplan Qbank

Does anyone recommend First Aid Cases for Step 2 in addition to the regular First Aid or Crush and UWorld? I also took a year off, and only have 2.5 weeks to study.

I would suggest that with 2.5 weeks left, just do UWorld-- no books, just try and finish as much of the question bank as possible. Very high yield.

Why doesn't your school want you to use FA or Crush? I found Crush essential in helping me understand the basic terminology. Labyrnthitis vs meneire's; which I did see on my exam last Monday.

Anybody know if there will be a new version of First Aid Step 2 CK coming out anytime soon (next 1-2 months)? The latest 7th edition is from Sept 2009 and I am wondering if I should wait for the new one or just get the current version?

I believe its released every 2 years, so next edition will probably be around 4th quarter of 2011 so if your exam is before that you will have to get the current version. You can email the publisher to find out when exactly its coming out.

I saw that book on Amazon and those reviews look almost too good (i.e. fake).

Yeah what's up with "Thank you Dr. Fischer!!" at the end of each review. Makes it seem like Conrad Fischer was bored one night and went on a Amazon Review writing spree.

I'm also interested in CK books, that dr. Fisher's book has many very good reviews, is it worth? Has anyone tried Kaplan LN for step 2?
