Best Books to Prepare for Path

I mentioned in my last thread I was out of Medical School for over 10 years and am hoping to start a Path residency in the next year or two. Naturally I am a little rusty in the basic sciences and I was wondering what the best textbooks to review would be to prepare myself. My texts are outdated and I want to begin a new library. I figure I need to review histology, anatomy and of course pathology. I assume it would be good to relearn Robbins. Actually, in my school we used baby Robbins. I would appreciate any suggestions on the best texts, atlases, review books, etc.

You already mentioned Robbins, but I though I'd re-iterate the point. I never read Robbins during medical scool (too thick, too expensive at the time), but I now wish I had. It's a great book! Easy to read, very informative, occasionally funny if you read it closely, and it has a good mix of anatomy, clinical presentations, pathogenesis, histology, pathology, and reasonable pictures. I'm in the midst of reading it cover to cover now.

If I was preparing for residency in your situation, I'd get Robbins, a histo review book (I have "Basic Histology" by Junqeira and won't particularly recommend it), and an anatomy book (is baby snell the thin brown one? i thought that one was quite good during anatomy lab in med school).

Big Robbins, as opposed to baby Robbins, is the way to go. It is an excellent overview of the most common pathological entities. For some intro to basic histology and histopathology, the Wheater's books are good (I believe they are called Basic Histology and Basic Histopathology or something similar).

Thanks for the input mrpeters and BCMD. Any other path residents have any suggestions for what you find to be the best prep for what residency requires?
