I will either be attending Creighton or Iowa next fall. Can anyone provide me with some feedback on the amount of clinical experience I will gain from each school? Some say because Creighton has no specialty programs the clinical experience is better......however at Iowa you actually go out into private practices and work which is more realistic right?? Or are they both great clinical schools? Feedback is greatly appreciated!!

Great clinical experience at Creighton. In Iowa, the reason they send you out into private practices is because they don't have the patient base for their clinic. Here in Omaha, there is a wait list of hundreds to get into our clinic, we see ALL cases. No greedy residents taking away the difficult patients like in Iowa City.

Creighton is pretty much the gold standard for dental school in the area. UIowa is limited in patients due to the smaller community of Iowa City versus Omaha, Council Bluffs, and Lincoln providing patients at Creighton. Either way, both schools turn out pretty solid dentists.

Why didn't you ask these questions at the interview?

Every Creighton student has told me this; however, I was told at Minnesota and other schools that this rarely ever happens.

Can someboday attest to actually having a "greedy" resident take a patient away from them?
