best laptop for optometry school?

I know that some schools, like Midwestern, require you to have a certain type of laptop. If you're matriculating into optometry school this fall, I'd try and give the school a call or email them asking if they have a specific preference on what type of laptop they would prefer.

I know nova is requiring all new first years to have iPads as they are integrating them into the curriculum. I had one even though that mandate came after my class and use it tons. My laptop stays at home.

I would definitely look into the school's requirements. I have a normal run of the mill laptop. It works fine. Some of my classmates take notes on their tablets, some type on their laptops, and I take notes on paper. Some of my professors will not allow computers into the classroom. Most of the time I don't even need my computer for school since I am looking at notes or books. However, all of our exams are on the computer, so just having a tablet doesn't work.

If you already have a laptop and it meets your school's requirements, take it and see what others are using. Get an idea of what you want to do for class notes, etc. and buy something new then.

not to push apple products (i personally hate apple and how stuck up they/i-Idiots always are, like san franciscans who smell their own flatulence on southpark), but you can get a mac and have windows installed on it via bootcamp.. that's like two computers in one lol. try that, might be well worth it.
