Im a MS2, and we have to schedule several 3 week electives for next year. Right now Im most interested in psych, but I also want to give neurology a shot. We dont have a required neuro clerkship, so it will be up to electives for me to see if its something Im interested in.

Our choices for MS3 include

general inpatient neurology (I assume this would be best choice if I only do one?)

What would be a good second choice and/or second elective if I do two as MS3?
peds neuro
behavioral neurology
neuro-oncology
movement disorders
neuro ICU
Neuromuscular
Neurovascular Stroke Inpatient

This is a very hard question for me, because neurology is incredibly flexible. You can be a niche subspecialist (like me), or do a little of everything.

If you want a true exposure to general, run-of-the-mill inpatient/outpatient neurology, I would suggest an *outpatient* general neurology rotation, and an *inpatient* general neurology rotation as second choice. If you cannot do an inpatient general neuro month, then switch the inpatient gen neuro with inpatient stroke.

Looks like there is no outpatient general neurology elective for 3rd years, but I'll ask around to see if maybe you do some stuff at outpatient clinics during the inpatient neuro rotation.

Looks like almost all the other rotations (besides the ones labeled inpatient) have a decent outpatient component
