What are thetop ten (best) Family Medicine Residency programs?

Sorry, you haven't found a list like that because it doesn't exist. There is no such thing as "top ten FM programs". I have the top ten for ME based on training provided, location, scope.....but it would likely not be YOUR top ten list. There is no way to tell you the ten programs that will train you better than anywhere else....only you can find those based on the type of FM training you want.

agree with the above post. you would need to define specific attributes to narrow down your list, ie: top programs in the Chicago area to prepare you for doing OB deliveries. and even then, your list might look different from someone else's list based on how you learn, etc.

Just to spell this out a little more, the reason you can't make a top ten is that there is no consensus as to which criteria you would rank programs on. Debate can be made about the Criteria USNews uses to rank research medical schools (first and foremost, research funding), but the general public seems to accept this criteria as valid given how we all salivate over the rankings every year. Even for Internal Medicine programs, you can objectively say that most people would agree that the programs that graduate the most cardiologists, gastroenterologists, etc, are at the top.

Not so for FM programs...there are a lot of great programs out there, but they all have different strengths that mirror the many different strengths of FM as a field.

I'd be willing to bet that University of Wyoming Family Medicine Residency in Cheyenne is NOT on this list if it even existed; would be on the list of the 10 WORST Family Medicine Residency Programs in the U.S.

Jerry, can you keep your vague complaining in it's specific thread? It doesn't apply to the original question. We all might have opinions about our personal bottom programs but, again, the list would be different for different people. Someone who was born and raised in Cheyenne, Wyoming and has family + roots established in the area might indeed rank Cheyenne into their top programs because, to them, the geography and the available support structure outweighs some problems in the program. I don't know anything about the program so I don't know what those problems are. Let's keep this thread on topic.
