Any major institutions, NW started Y90, all major cancer institutes in particular are good. It’s easy to get good IO experience almost any program with a few exceptions will have relatively high volume IO, Main reason for this is we own the space and the present time. PAD, neuro and peds IR, and somewhat trauma, exposure will very greatly depending on where you train.

Agree with prior post. There is almost no program that does not offer a reasonable procedural exposure to TACE/Y90 and ablative therapy of tumors. You should come out of most VIR integrated residencies with a decent procedural experience. The key I would look at is are you managing those patients Ie ordering the follow up imaging and labs, admitting to your VIR service, managing the underlying disease (eg ascites/ encephalopathy/varices )consulting other specialists as needed (medical oncology/radiation oncology/palliative care/ hospice etc).

The variance will be in neurointerventional, peripheral vascular (PAD/aortic /renal/mesenteric), and pediatric clinical and procedural experience.

The challenge with IO, is that the average private practice will have a hard time outside of transplant centers and cancer centers in growing a IO practice as the level 1 evidence is not currently great, outside of hepatocellular cancer.

To piggy-back, would you have a short-list that provides adequate neurointerventional & peripheral vascular training? I know a couple IRs that wish they had stroke training in residency so they didn't have to refer out almost ~200 miles to the closest center.

With the retirement of the SIR training directory, some of these numbers are hard to come by, and frankly, it can be a bit tricky to ask these on interviews because I may not want to appear disinterested in a program just because they don't provide training in one aspect.
