for those of us who didn't learn the first 2 years of material that well the first go round and forget things quickly.. what are the best books and materials to use to relearn the subject matter for step 1? I'm mainly asking for the basic sciences - it seems like I've almost completely forgotten all of that stuff..

Kaplan Lecture Notes + Kaplan Videos + Kaplan QBank. Then switch to Uworld + FA towards the end.

lecture notes(7 book series) and videos you can get them on ebay since you cant buy directly from kaplan without enrolling in their course. so is the 4 book series the same as the 7 book lecture note series, just divided differently?

is the best idea to use the review books for the first run through and to consolidate into FA, then use the consolidated FA to study for the remainder of your time?

The 4 books series has slightly more info since its designed to be used alone. The 7 book series is designed to be used with the videos. Personally i prefer the 7 book series.

And your consolidation into FA idea sounds pretty good, most people tend to do that
