Some of you regulars may have noticed how ETF and I are always saying Vanguard and Fidelity are the best mutual fund companies. You'll be pleased to know that someone else agrees.

Cogents Investor Brandscape uses customer loyalty, ownership, revenue and equity of brand to measure the strengths and weakness of each ranked company. Information that resulted from the research includes the following:
Vanguard and Fidelity are the only mutual fund companies to earn Star scores. Vanguard generates Star scores across all four measurement areas the only firm to do so and leads all competitors in customer loyalty, as well as revenue per relationship, by a wide margin. Eaton Vance is the only firm to receive Drifter rankings in all categories, suggesting the need for a strategic marketing campaign to both build brand and increase loyalty.
Vanguard has serious momentum behind its mutual fund business, which is strong and getting stronger, commented Harrington. The only weak spot for the second-place firm, Fidelity, is customer loyalty relative to the firms strengths in other areas.

Cogents Investor Brandscape uses customer loyalty, ownership, revenue and equity of brand to measure the strengths and weakness of each ranked company. Information that resulted from the research includes the following:
-
Seventy-one percent of mutual fund companies have negative customer loyalty scores, meaning the firms have more detractors than supporters among their client base.
Mutual fund companies with affiliated brokerage platforms generate high scores due to increased wallet share, greater penetration across investment accounts and stronger customer loyalty stemming from deeper relationships and association with brokerage platforms.
- The sizable gap between Stars and Drifters in customer loyalty suggests that those with lower scores may have a difficult time maintaining current clients, let alone capturing new ones.
