Hi everyone,

I suck at neuro. Big time.I have my excuses, I hate all that neuro anatomy, etc, but really since I"m a psych resident I need to know some of this stuff, and I'd like your help

Any recommendations for neurology books for psychiatry residents? I'm looking specifically for those who took the psych boards at least somewhat recently as that's the level of knowledge I'm aiming for

I know there is a book called Neurology for Psychiatrists, but I heard some negative things about it, namely that it didn't have enough information for the test

Thank you in advance for your help

Want another opinion?

I second nitemagi. Kaufman is a good neurology book but it's written for psychiatrists. Further, it's a good book to use to study for the board review exam.

Kaufman now has a 7th edition. A few questions are still just wrong, but they are just editing mistakes that can easily be seen when the discussion of the answers doesn’t match the answers. For the most part, it seems to be reader friendly and enough detail for the test. Looking at the PRITE neuro questions (not always a good indication of the boards), more than half the answers are in the anatomy section. If you review anything, the first five chapters seems to be more than half the battle. Good luck,

Thank you all again for the advice. I bought a used copy of the newest edition and it's good to see that the neuro we have to know isn't too crazy
