Best OCHEM Prep?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Dont get discouraged destroyer is a tough cookie. I assume you've watched chads videos? If not, do that and do the quizzes. It's pretty much a consensus top choice for ochem.

In edition to Destroyer, try Organic chemistry as a second language and Schaums outlines. Those books explain the concepts in the easy way.

IMO the best source is the book "Preparing for your ACS examination in organic chemistry: The official guide" put out by the American Chemical Society. It's not very expensive ($30 new and $5 used on Amazon) and most university libraries have a copy of it. It might go into a tiny bit more depth than what is on the test, but not much. If you know that book well, you're golden I think. The only problem is there isn't a TON of explanation, so you might use it to supplement or guide your study with a regular text book that you already have or that you can get at the library.

Destroyer is killing me for Ochem prep. Getting discouraged. I have bootcamp to practice. What else can I do? Which material would be the best?

Destroyer is your best prep. What I do is go through all the problems 40 questions at a time. Review the answers and just write down notes of why it is and for those specific reactions what happens. Study your notes and watch chads videos again & then go back and do destroyer again and once it clicks and your getting 90% right, you will feel very motivated. You have to motivate yourself to do better. I work 9 hours a day, fasting from dawn to sunset and still manage to keep myself doing this. Hope it pays off lol!

ACS booklet and Organic chemistry as a second language will greatly help you. They explain concepts in a practical, easy to understand form.

oh yay thanks 🙂 im trying to avoid destroyer for now before im more or less comfortable with all the reactions and all

same here,
Im actually not going to do the destroyer at all lol.
I`ve been getting 18-22`s on practice tests w/o destroyer. So I dont want to be put down by it!😀

TOPSCORE, bootcamp (on the lower side 18-19), Qvault, 2007 , 2009 DAT sample, achiever(again slight lower side 19-20) but I mean, I am doing something right lol.

And for other resources Im using, my own flashcards, that link
these were useful for alkenes (first link) and the other was good all around:

Also : http://www.chemhelper.com/practicetests.html

And of course CHAD`s quizzes and videos.
