Hi all,

With the creation of SketchyMedical, the usage of Picmonic, I imagine, has decreased in popularity. However, I have still heard from a few older students that with regards to certain topics, picmonic still has some real use.

I was curious, for those who have used picmonic, what are the most memorable or useful videos/topics not covered by the Sketchy (especially not micro)?

Thanks in advance!

When I used picmonic last year, its biggest strengths were:

1) the duration of videos was short (sketchy videos are too long on certain videos)
2) I can choose which symbols to be included in a picture (if there are things that I already knew, I could not delete certain things in sketchy, so the final sketchy picture becomes way too crowded or too much unnecessarily)
3) I can add more symbols (I cannot edit or personalize sketchy videos/pictures)
4) it covers a lot of topics (when I had sketchy last year, there were certain drugs/topics/pathology/etc that sketchy did not cover).

My most memorable picmonics were:

Lysosomal and glycogen storage diseases, CYP 450 inhibitors and inducers, several neuro path like sturge-weber and neurofibromatosis, immunodeficiencies, and cancer drugs (sketchy didn't cover them when I was preparing for step 1).

The only way to find out if picmonic is useful for you is to try it on your own and see if you remember things better.

Thank you so much, ill write jot those down. Appreciate knowing the differences of the platform too as compared to sketchy. Had no clue you could add more symbols, that's pretty neat.

bump. any additional advice would be helpful. Thanks everyone!
