Best residency review resource- ROL Match 2020

There is nothing online really.

I suggest making a spreadsheet with all the programs you interview at and take notes. Rank them based on what is important to you.

When I was applying I knew I wanted to do some kind of fellowship after gen surg, program name/notoriety & 1st time board pass rates mattered to me. I also wanted to be in a well-populated city where rent wasn't ridiculous. Last, I had to have a good gut feeling.

First, I did not apply to programs in small/dying cities or with board pass rates below 65%.

All remaining programs were ordered based on subjective notoriety and fellowship match rates.

I had the list ordered before each interview, and if my gut felt bad after the interview day I took notes and marked it off the list.

Always remember to take notes. You'll forget how you felt on interview #2 when you're coming home from interview #12.
