So, I want a new iphone to replace my older model (more than 3 years old). I use my phone to text, talk and check e mails. I don't have many "apps" on it (about 12-14).

Which new apple phone should I buy? I'm thinking iphone 8 but I'd love to read opinions. I also want a new Ipad to replace my 5 year old one. Recommendations?

I've held onto my Apple stock which was a good thing.

I have the iPhone 8 plus and love it. The larger screen increases it's utility but it still fits in my pockets. My wife has the iPhone X. I am technically pretty savvy but am still struggling to use it. Also remember that facial recognition doesn't work with a surgical mask on, fingerprint works better inside the OR.

Which is the best iPhone? iPhone 7, iPhone 8, iPhone XR, or iPhone XS?

Analysts think the XR model will be the BIG seller for Apple.

Apple iPhone XR vs. iPhone 8 vs. iPhone 7 vs. iPhone 6s: Which is best for you?

OVERALL WINNER: IPHONE XR
Unsurprisingly, the newest of the bunch, the iPhone XR, has more to offer than its predecessors, but that doesn’t necessarily make it the best choice for you. If you would prefer a smaller iPhone and you love the classic design and TouchID, then the iPhone 8 is going to be a great buy that could still last you for years. The iPhone 7 also still has a lot of life left and could serve you well if you want to save some cash. Although we mourn the passing of the headphone port, the iPhone 6s has had its day and we wouldn’t recommend buying one, though if you do have one, you could probably just about squeeze another year out of it.

If you’re buying now, we think the iPhone XR justifies the extra expense and offers many of the same features you’ll find in Apple’s much more expensive flagships.

Iphone 8 or 8+ if you want to stick with Apple. Samsung Note 9 if you want the actual best phone with specs and features.

Get an iPhone XR, 64 GB or higher. It seems like the sweet spot now (I would buy the 128 GB). Same last generation processor as the more expensive version. Good LCD screen (instead of OLED). iOS 12 (which will be great for privacy).

Should last you years before you feel the need to upgrade. It's worth waiting a month until it comes out.

I have an X with 64 GB. I love my iPad Mini 2, but I am not a big fan of latest iPhones. It's a tool. I still use my Mini more (I have a TON of e-books), but the X serves its purpose at work.

Facial recognition in the O.R.? Is it too big to fit in my scrub shirt pocket?

No facial recognition with mask. I don't think it will be too big. The X fits in my scrub pockets, and this is not much different.

What I got with the X (versus 8 plus) is the smaller bezel and bigger screen, for a phone as wide as an iPhone 8. I hate big phones; this one just fits my hand. I assume the XR won't be much different.

iPhone XR hands-on: 6.1-inch 'budget' iPhone looks and feels great

If not the XR, I would go for the XS, or an X from last year. But I am the kind of guy who would never pay $250 for the difference between XR and XS. (My iPhone X was a gift. I used a $200 Android for years.)

The XR has a lot of compromises.

Doesn’t even have 1080p screen.

Single camera lense. Fake portrait mos

No 3D Touch.

Look. I’m all for budget iphones. But the trick is wait 5-7 weeks. I got a $300 sams club gift card last November when iPhone 8 Plus was practically 6 weeks from launch date. I could have gotten same gift card for the flag ship iPhone X At the time also. But I battery life is most important. So the 8 plus has the better battery life along with bigger screen.

Big big. iPhone XS max. That’s the phone to get. U won’t regret it. But wait 6-7 weeks.

Funny. I have never used 3D Touch. I actually had to look it up. I have a feeling Blade will be the similar type of appliance user as I am. He should just go for the best phone in the right size, given all his $MM. 🙂

Btw, I am a highly technical person, just not on my phone. I hate putting/keeping private stuff on it.

It's definitely worth waiting, and trying all of them out in an Apple store before buying.

Thanks. I never knew how to properly use 3D Touch. I still won't use it much except to swipe left to delete an e mail.

I like the IOS from Apple. Other than using apple texting I'm a basic smart phone user. Right now I'm using 11 GB of phone storage on my 64GB phone.

I stick with Apple because it's the only smart phone I've ever owned and the IOS seems to work well. The cost difference over android isn't that big a deal especially if you buy the previous model.

I'm not opposed to buying a Samsung phone but they aren't that cheap either.

Samsung phones are full of bloat and their batteries die really quickly for no reason

Sounds like there is no point in getting a new phone at this time. Maybe just replace the battery.

If that’s really all you do and just looking something faster and more efficient, iPhone 8 it is.

Blade I was in same boat about 3 months ago as far as not wanting a giant phone and still having Touch ID.

Got an 8 64GB.

Will freely admit I don’t know much about the new XR release but I’d just get an 8.

Not worth getting an 8. Both Apple and Android phones are adopting the new screen format.

Google pixel 2. Best camera on the market, battery life lasts forever, and isn't preloaded with a bunch of crap like other Android's. I personally love Google assistant as well, especially if you have Google home too. I also really like where the fingerprint scanner is.

I would not recommend android for blade. Keep it simple. In the USA iOS runs close to 45% market share. Compare to the rest of the world (especially China where android (with out official google play store..cause well they are the Chinese and the Chinese and google don’t get along ). But android makes up like 80% share in the rest of the world.

I think blade should get the $750 64gb iPhone XR. He should wait till November when stores like Sams club run $300 gift card promos. (Tons off promo in November as Xmas season approaches). None of this crap bogo add a new line promo carriers run. Straight up $300 gift card. Don’t fall for the monthly credit crap also. It’s a de facto contract cause u don’t realize the true savings for 24-30 months.

So blade should get the XR. Has same A12 processor. Blade probably doesn’t know how to use portrait mode so dual lens isn’t essentially.

If you want something worth the dollar get a pocophone F1 but if you want the well known brands, Galaxy S9 is the best in the market
