Got 3 weeks. Applying to ophtho, which is early match and doesn't put much weight on Step 2, and have a good enough Step 1 to not worry too much about CK. I still want to do as well as possible though because I figure a high score can only help me.

So of course I am going to do all UWorld qbank. I actually completed like 75% of UWorld during the year for shelf exams, but I am going to redo all of them and reread all the answer explanations as if they were brand new. I finished internal med a little over a month ago and read through most of Step Up to Med at that point. I really liked that book so I figure it's probably a good idea to reread. What other review books do you recommend in addition to Step Up and UWorld in order to make sure my studying is complete?

I read elsewhere that they used all the non-IM chapters in FA in addition to Step Up.

What about Secrets? Would just doing Uworld and Secrets cover everything?

Also, what about MTB and Uworld only? I heard MTB is solid but some ppl seem to be using 2 different editions for some reason?

Or I read some like MTB plus Step up Step2 CK plus Uworld?

While I loved Step Up to Medicine, I did find it to be too detailed/superfluous text at times. Considering that and that it doesn't include all Step 2 topics, I am now somewhat hesitant to use it for Step 2. I probably need something more concise, more comprehensive of all topics and maybe should only use Step Up for reference. What do you think?

Thank you.

Take a nbme first. Trust me, it's dumb to make a study plan when you have no idea where your starting point is at.

See where you stand. Some people who score high to start off with might not even need a review book (just uworld).

A search would treat you well.

Why even respond if you're going to say nothing meaningful?

I personally think UWorld... SU2M for Cardio, GI, Pulm, Endocrine, Fluids and electrolytes, ID, Ambulatory and derm.

For the other topics, I just used an assortment. SU2M is definitely not overkill for the subjects I listed (in my opinion.) In fact, many of the other sources simply do not provide the depth necessary for making Optho level board scores.

That's my opinion though, I'm sure others will disagree.

Yea I already did but I wanted more recent feedback. Most of the good threads on this topic are a few years old.

Pretty sure I'm going with MTB2 for IM and MTB3 for non-IM and UW.

Golden. +/- Secrets.

Getting some sort of baseline would be beneficial. NBME's are kind of all over the place, but UWSA is useful as a later measure to see progression (or you can take it early as a baseline).

Okay, so I got my books now. When ppl say MTB3 for non-IM chapters, does that include the derm, preventive medicine, etc. chapters too or just OB GYN, psych and surgery?

I wasn't sure so I did those chapters as well. Preventive medicine could be done w/ MTB 2 as it's relatively simple. Derm I bit the bullet and did on MTB 2 and 3.

For the record, I did MTB 2 non-IM as well for a foundation. Then I could realize there were things in MTB3 (even in the non-IM sections) that I felt safe to ignore for CK.

If you have three weeks and are doing well in uworld you can probably only use secrets and the MTB for weaknesses. Focus on uworld. Take an NBME to see agree you're at and take UWSA about a week out.

When people say MTB 3 for non-IM, they usually mean just the non-IM sections (OBGYN, Psych, Surgery, Peds). The other topcis in IM like neuro/derm, I think most folks just use MTB2 (or read it in both MTB 2 and 3).
